Dietitian
J.D. McCarty Center is looking for a Dietitian to join our team in Norman, OK. The primary responsibilities will include assessment, intervention, and education of caregivers on evidence-based nutrition in an outpatient setting with some inpatient responsibilities.
Salary ranging from: $55,000 to $65,000 and will be based on experience.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide nutrition monitoring, assessment, calculations, recommendations, and education for outpatient families.
- Develop, maintain, and document inpatient nutrition care plans in the medical record, including nutrition assessment, monitoring parameters, goals, recommendations, and nutrition discharge.
- Serve as dietitian and nutrition resource for Camp Claphans.
- Work with Director of Nutrition Services to create patient menus and specialized menus.
- Assist with inpatient foodservice management, as needed.
- Interact and confer with a variety of professionals including physicians, therapists, nurses, and social workers.
- Understand and work within economic/social/cultural constraints families may face with regards to special diets, supplementation, etc.
- Work with dietetic interns, as needed.
- Maintain necessary continuing education units for registration and licensure.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements include knowledge of current dietetics and institutional diet management; nutrition and its relationship to health; nutritional values; costs and accounting; available community resources; health requirements and personal hygiene; administrative principles and practices; modern methods, materials and equipment used in food preparation and service; economic and social trends in nutrition; program planning and nutrition education techniques.
Ability is required to plan menus for general and special therapeutic diets; calculate tube feedings; keep necessary records; establish effective working relationships with others; present and prepare educational materials; develop curricula for nutrition education programs and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; evaluate and judge the quality of food materials and develop menus; plus ability to plan and deliver effective education programs and to evaluate results of programs.
Education and Work Experience:
- Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (if Registered Dietitian Eligible must sit for and pass exam within 6 months of hire).
- Licensure with the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision or ability to obtain license within 6 months of hire.
- 1+ year experience working as a pediatric dietitian in a clinical setting.
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary setting collaborating with other therapists and professionals.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
About J.D. McCarty Center:
J.D. McCarty Center is a pediatric rehabilitation hospital for children with disabilities birth to 21 years of age. We are a unique 36 bed hospital. Patient are admitted for a 30-day evaluation during which they are assigned a treatment team consisting of nursing unit, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutritional services, social services, psychological services, behavioral analysis, and recreational therapy. Our 80-acres campus includes a on-site elementary, intermediate, and high school which is staffed by Norman Public School teachers. Patients may continue treatment needs beyond the 30-days as an in-patient in habilitation status based upon progress or placement needs.
